Some thoughts on eBay
eBay is a modern phenomenon. It has changed the whole trading scene for small businesses, making it possible to trade from home on whatever scale you choose.
If your ambitions rise to more than the occasional eBay auction you can, in a matter of an hour or so, set up an eBay Shop and be trading next day with little or no capital investment or IT expertise.
That should make us all happy.
